A Carefully Selected Detox Plan Includes Purified Water

Any detox plan for cleansing your body includes drinking water. However, the first step is to make sure you are consuming only pure, safe drinking water. It is not found in a plastic bottle.

Plastic bottles leach contaminants into the liquids stored within them. Manufacturers prefer plastic because it is less likely to break and cause loss. Consumers often prefer plastic because it is lighter weight and not breakable. But plastic is the likely cause of some of the health changes we have seen in growing teenagers. It is the likely cause of many of the metabolic disorders (including obesity) that are running rampant in our society.

Many of the polymers used to create these plastics act like hormones within the human body. Even worse, they interfere with the body's production of naturally occurring hormones. Glandular dysfunction is one result. I could say much more about plastics, but let's start with this: If you are looking for pure drinking water to use with your chosen detox plan, you need a different solution.

Home purification is the best solution. Many of today's purifiers can remove all of the chemicals and environmental pollutants as well as the toxic heavy metals that are major causes of long-term and chronic health problems. You don't need an expensive reverse osmosis system. The best systems for the kitchen tap cost about $100. In the long run, it's a lot cheaper than buying bottled water and it's a lot better for your health.

If you make steps to detoxify your digestive system and your bodily organs, but you don't take steps to avoid toxins, you are only addressing half of the problem. You may have seen the better grocery stores offering more organic foods. They have an important role to play in any detox plan.

Non-organic foods, those grown by farmers who use pesticides, herbicides and artificial fertilizers, are obviously full of toxins. In addition, non-organic foods are not as nutrient rich as organic ones. Researchers have shown that organic berries have three times the antioxidants found in those grown using big-business methods. Those berries are also an important part of your detox plan.

The antioxidants and other polyphenols found in blueberries, raspberries, boysenberries, strawberries, cranberries and bilberries are all very unique. Lately, there's been a lot of talk about the acai berry as well. There are some detoxifying supplements that are primarily composed of extracts from that berry. These antioxidants cleave to toxins and heavy metals, dislodging them from your tissues and organs. However, you still need lots of pure water to wash them away.

Most of the cleansers on the market are in powder form, and they must be combined with a beverage. The best beverage choice is water purified at home. Regardless of the detox plan you choose, your first step is to buy a home purifier and drink more purified water.
